Almost 1/2 of a year....

It has been awhile since my last post. Little man is sick right now (for the third time in 6 weeks) and is currently snoozing away in his crib. We took him to the doctor's yesterday, and he currently weighs 17 1/2 lbs! He has his actual six month appointment this Friday, so I will update you all again after that appointment. We had our house warming party the first weekend of the month, and it was so awesome! Everyone seemed to have a blast, the day couldn't have been any more perfect and the weather was amazing. We had about 10 or so kids here from a few months old up to about 4. It was crazy how many little ones were running around in the yard. Lennox sure is lucky to have so many friends his age to play with!

Leni's top tooth is coming in as we speak and it is a big one! Poor guy has been going crazy waiting for this one to come in. I am dreading his other big front tooth's arrival--he has been one sad little man over these last three weeks. Leni is eating a bunch of delicious foods now.....pears, bananas, squash, prunes, carrots, applesauce, peas, avocado, and sweet potatoes. He is a great little eater! He loves eating all the foods that I grind up for him with our food mill. It is crazy that he is eating solids now and will soon be crawling!

I have been spending a lot of time with Keri and Megan and their kids--Lola, Jackson and Rocco. We meet once a week for a little mommy's group. It is so nice to have a day to hang with some ladies my age and let the kids tire each other out. Leni loves watching toddlers run around and get into trouble. He just stares at them and sometimes even tries to imitate them (like when Jackson, Lola and Rocco start screaming at the top of their lungs...). Anne and I have been meeting a few times a month to let James and Leni hang out....we have been meeting at McKinley Park, walking to get coffee at Peet's and then walking around the park for some exercise.

It sure has been beautiful outside (with the exception of this crappy wind lately) and I have been going on long walks with the little guy daily. I just love our neighborhood, our neighbors and having the park so close by. Leni gets to go on the swings all by himself at the park and he loves it! Like I have said before, he is a kiddo that loves to be scared. He really gets a kick out of the adrenaline rush--super scary for what he is going to be like as a teen! He doesn't get scared by things that most babies his age would cry at....we'll just have to see how this one plays out!! :)

I can't believe that he is almost a 1/2 of a year old. Time flies. It flew by before we had a baby, but now it truly goes by in a flash. I know that he is going to be a year old before I know it and it makes me a little sad. I love watching him grow up, learn new things, see things for the first time and figure things out....but it is also sad that it all happens so quickly and before I know it he won't be a baby anymore. It is bittersweet. Being a mom is the most rewarding, amazing, overwhelming, crazy, beautiful and difficult task that I have ever taken on. I love being a mommy, but it is true that you have no idea how tough it is until you become one. I see a lot of both Levi and I in him, as well as my mom. There are certain expressions that he has that completely make me believe that I am staring at my mom. It is such a gift, and I love that I can see her in him. I know that she is just smitten with him, just as we all are. I wish that she would have still been here to see her daughter become a mommy, but I know that she is around....I just can't see her as much as I would like :)
